What are the different types of health insurance?

There are three types of insurance that cover health:

  • Private health insurance covers many of the costs associated to your medical care. This type of insurance is typically purchased directly through private companies so that you only pay monthly premiums.
  • Although public health insurance covers the majority of the cost for medical care, there are some restrictions and limits. Public insurance, for example, will not cover routine visits to doctors or hospitals, labs and X-ray facilities.
  • To save money for future medical expenses, medical savings accounts (MSAs) can be used. The funds are held in an account that is distinct from all other types of accounts. Most employers offer MSA plans. These accounts are tax-free, and they accumulate interest at rates similar to bank savings accounts.

How To

What is the Healthcare Industry Value Chain

The healthcare industry value chains include all the activities involved with providing healthcare services. This includes all the business processes that occur within hospitals and clinics as well as the supply chains that link them to other providers, such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists or insurance companies. The end result is a continuum, which begins with diagnosis and ends at discharge.

The value chain is made up of four major components:

  • Business processes - These are the tasks performed throughout the whole process of providing health care. For example, a doctor may perform an exam and then prescribe medication. Each step must be done correctly and efficiently.
  • Supply Chains – The entire network of organizations responsible for ensuring that the right supplies reach those who need them. An average hospital has many suppliers. These include pharmacies, lab testing facilities and imaging centers.
  • Networked Organizations (NO) - In order to coordinate the various entities, communication must exist between all parts of the system. Hospitals have many departments. Each has its own number of phones and offices. The central point will allow employees to get up-to-date information from any department.
  • Information Technology Systems - IT plays a critical role in business process efficiency. Without IT, things could quickly go sour. IT also allows you to integrate new technologies in the system. If doctors want to integrate electronic medical records in their workflow, they can use secure network connections.
